Thanks to a generous $107,000 grant from Impact 100 NYC, we launched Get Ahead in Healthcare to provide high school students with career exploration, real-world work experience, and skill building opportunities in the healthcare sector.
Participants gained exposure to the healthcare industry through career-readiness workshops, a guest speaker series, field trips, a career expo, and paid internships with employers in the healthcare field. We are grateful to Impact 100 NYC for supporting our students in discovering the diverse careers in the healthcare field and gaining the knowledge and skills to achieve their professional goals!
More ↓Fifteen high school students participated in our Morgan Stanley internship program in spring of 2023, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the financial services industry and improving critical skills such as Excel and public speaking.
“I was given the chance to work on real-world projects and tasks that involve financial analysis, modeling, research, etc.," said one program participant. "This hands-on experience gave me a practical understanding of how finance works, and seeing the impact of financial decisions and strategies firsthand has been highly motivating and increased my interest in the finance world.”
More ↓Deepening our community connections, Futures and Options delivered its first ever bilingual English-Spanish Career Essentials series at International Community High School in the Bronx, where 95% of students are English Language Learners.
Students explored important professional skills, such as communication, conflict resolution, and public speaking, and also practiced interviewing with our corporate volunteers. We look forward to expanding this partnership next year and further adapting our curriculum to meet the needs of this group of students.
