Building upon our healthcare career programming from last year, Futures and Options partnered with the FutureReadyNYC program to implement a healthcare work-based learning program with six New York City high schools.
Over 500 high school students participated in career awareness activities, projects with industry speakers, and paid healthcare internships during the program. We are so grateful for the leadership of anchor partner Northwell Health, who hosted more than 60 interns this past spring. We also thank our other healthcare partners, Mount Sinai Health System, NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, Energize Physical Therapy, and ACT Care Group, who participated in interactive projects with our students and hosted interns. We look forward to continuing these partnerships next year and helping New York City youth gain the knowledge and skills to achieve their professional goals.
More ↓Over 520 high school students at George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School participated in our career development workshop and mock interview series this past year.
Students gained important professional skills such as time management, financial literacy, and networking, and they practiced their interview skills with industry volunteers. 60 volunteers engaged with Westinghouse students, providing interview feedback and sharing their career pathways and experience. We are thrilled to bring our curriculum directly into the classroom to connect a diverse range of students to these important skill-building sessions.
More ↓With support from The Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation, Futures and Options launched its inaugural alumni internship program, connecting college-aged alumni to exciting internships throughout New York City.
Nine rising college sophomores and juniors worked at partner sites Davis Polk, Paul Hastings LLP, Guy Carpenter, Cipher Mining, Shinda Management, Recycle Track Systems, AreaProbe and New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG). Interns participated in interactive workshops on goal setting, financial literacy, and developing a personal brand, as well as visiting Morgan Stanley for a career panel and networking session. We were thrilled to create these unique learning opportunities for our alumni.
